Cheapest Cars to Rent in Dubai (From AED 150 a Day)

The cheapest car you can rent in Dubai at Apex Ride is AED 150 a day. That gets you either a Hyundai Elantra or a Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross, both 2025 models with automatic transmission and insurance included.

If your budget is AED 300 a day or less, you have eight cars to choose from, and they are not all small hatchbacks. There is a Mercedes in there, a BMW, and a seven seat SUV. Here is the full list with what each one actually costs.

Every Car Under AED 300 a Day

Car Daily rate Year Engine
Hyundai Elantra AED 150 2025 2.0 Inline 4
Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross AED 150 2025 1.5
Kia K5 GT Line AED 200 2025 1.6 Turbo Inline 4
Mercedes-Benz CLA 250 AED 250 2026 2.0L Inline-4 turbo with mild hybrid drive
Kia Telluride AED 250 2024 3.8 V6
BMW 228i AED 299 2022 2.0L Turbo Inline-4 Gas 228 hp
Nissan X-Trail AED 300 2023 2.5 Inline 4
Mini Cooper S AED 300 2026  Base engine size, 2.0 L

All eight are automatic, all run on petrol, and all include insurance in the daily rate.

The Two Cheapest Cars

Hyundai Elantra, AED 150 a day. A 2025 saloon with a 2.0 litre engine. If you want the lowest price and a car that just works for getting around the city, this is it. Good boot, comfortable on longer drives, and cheap to run.

Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross, AED 150 a day. The same price but a small SUV, so you sit higher and get a bit more space in the back. The 1.5 litre engine is the most economical in the fleet. Worth picking over the Elantra if you have luggage or prefer the higher driving position.

At AED 150 a day, a week costs AED 1,050 and a month is around AED 4,500 at the daily rate. Longer bookings come down from there, so ask if you need the car for more than a few days.

Where the price goes up, and why

AED 200: Kia K5 GT Line. A 2025 saloon with a 1.6 turbo. The GT Line trim looks sportier than the standard K5, and the turbo makes it noticeably quicker than the Elantra. You are paying AED 50 a day more for a better looking, faster car.

AED 250: Mercedes-Benz CLA 250. This is the interesting one. At AED 250 a day you are in a Mercedes, and a 2026 model at that. It is a four door coupé, so it has the sloping roofline but proper back doors. If turning up in a Mercedes matters for what you are doing, this is the cheapest way to do it in Dubai.

AED 250: Kia Telluride. A 3.8 litre V6 SUV from 2024, and the biggest car on this list. If you are travelling with family or need the space, nothing else under AED 300 comes close for room.

AED 299: BMW 228i. A 2022 four door coupé. Same idea as the CLA, but a BMW instead. It drives better than most cars at this price.

AED 300: Nissan X-Trail and Mini Cooper S. The X-Trail is a practical family SUV with a 2.5 litre engine. The Mini Cooper S is the opposite, small and fun, and the easiest car here to park in Marina or Downtown.

Economy Car Rental Dubai

What you Get for the Money

Whichever of these you pick, the daily rate includes:

  • Comprehensive insurance
  • 250 km a day of mileage
  • A Salik toll tag already fitted
  • Delivery in Dubai

The 250 km daily allowance is worth understanding. Dubai to Abu Dhabi and back is around 300 km, so a day trip there would put you over. For normal city driving it is more than enough. Most people never get near it.

The Deposit

You leave a security deposit when you collect the car. On these economy vehicles it is between AED 1,000 and AED 2,500, depending on the model.

It is held as a pre-authorization on your credit card rather than charged, and released once you bring the car back and we have checked it. The money usually takes a few working days to show as available again, which is down to your bank rather than us.

You will need a credit card in the name of the person renting.

What You Need to Rent

If you live in the UAE:

  • Emirates ID
  • Valid UAE driving licence

If you are visiting:

  • Passport
  • Valid UAE visit visa
  • Driving licence from your home country
  • An International Driving Permit, depending on where your licence was issued

Send the documents over before collection day and we will check them in advance, so the handover only takes a few minutes.

Which one should you pick?

Lowest price: Hyundai Elantra or Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross at AED 150. Take the Eclipse Cross if you want more space, the Elantra if you prefer a saloon.

Best value step up: Kia K5 GT Line at AED 200. Fifty dirhams more than the cheapest, and a noticeably nicer car.

Cheapest premium badge: Mercedes-Benz CLA 250 at AED 250, or the BMW 228i at AED 299.

Most space: Kia Telluride at AED 250.

Easiest to park: Mini Cooper S at AED 300.
